About the film:

Azores, California explores the beauty and authenticity of the Portuguese-American community in California’s Central Valley, as well as the preservation and evolution of its Azorean cultural heritage.

We focus on bullfighters, artists, craftsmen, musicians, farmers, breeders, and other Azorean descendants who keep their traditions alive. We dive into festas, parades, bullfights, fado music, as well as the everyday life of the Portuguese-Americans.

We have been working on this project for over a year, using our own finances to pay for labor, equipment, travel, accommodation, food, and other necessities. We have run out of personal resources and in order to complete the film, we need your help.

The funds we raise will be used to film more of the community, more of the culture, more of the traditions, so we can paint a fuller, more detailed picture of the Portuguese-American experience. They will also cover costs for editing, color grading, music scoring and licensing, sound design and mixing, insurance, and other essential parts of the filmmaking process.
